4/5* "Great Trip" by Cody L., Edmonton, Jan 2018, VRBO
We had a great trip to Akumal. The property was as described and pictured. The snorkeling in Half Moon Bay was a lot of fun, just watch out for the sea urchins right out front of the property! Beach was nice, shady and sunny spots and not extremely busy. Pool was cold, but it was a nice break for our kids to beat the heat. The villa can actually sleep up to 8, but worked well for the 6 of us. Wifi wasn't very fast or reliable, but we weren't there to play on the internet. It's great that it is walking distance to Yal-Ku which was a favorite of ours to snorkel at to see tons of fish. Overall a great property and we would definitely come back in the future!
5/5* "Beautiful get-away" by Anonymous, Jan 2017, VRBO
The villa was well-furnished and equipped. The air conditioning was welcome on extra hot days. It was great to have satellite and DVD's for tv and movies.
Loved the peace and quiet and beauty of La Sirena and area. The grounds outside the villa are a tropical paradise. The large pool was great entertainment and fun for the grandkids. The crystal, turquoise ocean and coral shelf close by made for a snorkeling adventure. It was so relaxing going for long, lazy barefoot walks along the beach of half-moon bay. There were lots to do: sun-bathing, swimming (in the pool, cenotes and ocean), snorkeling, diving, fishing, body-board surfing, visiting ruins, walking Tulum beach, off-roading, touring ecological reserves and animal sanctuaries and going to Xcaret.
5/5* "Beautiful Condo and Spectacular View!" by Mary Hose B., May 2016, TripAdvisor
My husband and I just had a wonderful experience staying in this Condo. The view is just spectacular! Beautiful and private, absolutely perfect for a romantic getaway. You are definitely hit with the wow factor as soon as you are standing in front of that magnificent view and enjoying the cooling breeze. The condo has absolutely everything you may need for your stay. It truly felt like home away from home. It is extremely cozy, comfortable, right in front of Akumal Bay, in a very serene section, but a couple of minutes away from the main action of Akumal Beach, where people go swimming with the turtles. We stayed for 9 days, and probably six out of those nine days we had the beach to ourselves. You can opt to swim right in front of your condo and enjoy serene privacy, or you can drive approximately 5 minutes to the entrance to swim with the turtles. Response from Whitney was prompt via email, and she and her husband did everything to make our stay at the condo a great experience. The Wi-Fi signal was strong throughout and we didn’t have any blackouts. There is no conventional cable in the condo, but the main TV has Roku for the premium channels like Netflix, Amazon Instant Video, Hulu Plus, HBO GO, Pandora, etc.; however, you need to already have an account with those services to be able to watch their content through Roku. I happened to bring my Chromecast which I connected to one of the TV’s HDMI and it worked great; again, the Wi-Fi signal was strong enough to seamlessly cast from my smartphone/laptop to the TV. With the windows open, the tropical breeze flows deliciously throughout the condo and there were only a few nights that we felt the need to turn on the AC in the main area. There is already drinking water in the Condo which was replenished by the cleaning lady, Letty, who was wonderful. We procured her services to have our clothes washed a couple of days before our return. She will knock on the door to ask if you would like cleaning service, and it is up to you how often you want it. We asked her to come by on the days we knew we were going to be out all day, and opted out for those days that we wanted to sleep in late and just relax. It was an amazing experience, perfect for a romantic getaway and I recommend this condo to anyone that doesn’t have a problem going up the stairs to the third floor. I absolutely assure you that you will love it as much as we did.
5/5* "Akumal Norte Paradise - near it all, but away from the bustle!!" by TravelLover93923, Jun 2015, TripAdvisor
Wow on all levels with this condo! The owner communication, location, calm atmosphere, amenities... and oh my goodness, the view! We had such an amazing time at La Sirena... even though we were unlucky enough to get a bit of weather, it was still such a wonderful vacation. We just tried to imagine that the condo was ours and we'd be able to visit whenever we wanted, to combat the sadness we felt to leave this little slice of amazing! We had tons of TV channels to watch and because of the strong WiFi, we also used Netflix (since it was raining pretty good at times- with lightning! Awesome!). The owner also provides a bunch of DVDs and books for your use. The place was kept beautifully clean during our stay with daily cleaning visits from the lovely people who work there, and a very comfortable bed to sleep in. The A/C worked great in both the main living area as well as the bedroom when we needed it. After the storm, I noticed that it was actually pretty neat that the north end of Half Moon Bay is a little rocky because all the beautiful beaches south of us were covered with tons of seaweed, so the lounging beach at La Sirena was beautifully clean while others were covered in seaweed, which was nice for our last two days. We went snorkeling, and though the weather kicked up some sand into the water, we still saw tons of fish- Cuddle-fish, Needle-fish, Sergent Majors, Blue Tangs, Bluehead Wrasse, Peacock Flounder, Parrot-fish, Trunk-fish, French Angelfish (some of the biggest I've ever seen!) Squirrel-fish, and a Southern Ray. Wear reef/water shoes, head out to the sand, then put on your mask/snorkel/fins and head towards the dark spots out in the middle of Half Moon Bay. You'll find tons of awesome reef-heads out there. We even saw a big ray in the water, right from the condo deck! The pool was lovely when it didn't look very fun to get into the ocean (rough), and the grounds around the pool are so beautiful and tropical. It's also really nice to have a shaded pool for when it's hot mid-day. The kitchen was very well-appointed, with a nice-sized fridge and we cooked breakfast as well as a few dinners for ourselves. The stove is a little different than in the states... be sure to turn the gas knob, then click the button with a little lightning sign on it for a spark. We enjoyed La Buena Vida for lunch, as well as Que Onda for dinner, and we loved Turtle Bay for our last breakfast in Akumal.
We were so impressed with the condo that we just can't wait to go back and possibly bring some friends or family to share in the awesomeness! Rent this condo. It's such a special, quiet and beautiful spot.
4/5* "Lovely and peaceful with excellent view!" by fortpierce1847, Jan 2017, TripAdvisor
Lovely and quiet! We stayed on the third floor and our view was spectacular, looking out to the ocean and back to Half Moon Bay. Housekeeping excellent and plenty of space for four. Well-appointed kitchen and it was great to have two bathrooms! Nice pool and well-kept beach area with plenty of chairs and umbrellas. The only drawback is that you need to be able to walk two flights of stairs. If this is an issue, choose a unit on a lower floor. You will need water shoes for the reef. There is a short seawall, but you can easily get into the water and around to the beach if you want to snorkel or walk to beach restaurants, such as La Lunita or La Buena Vida. Que Onda and Yalk-Ku Lagoon are also within easy walking distance. We were able to rent bikes from the front desk. Akumal is easily walked, but the bikes were nice to get to Akumal Plaza. Alfredo is the site manager and is happy to help with whatever you need.
