Akumal's Original Las Casitas. These small terraced villas are located right along Akumal Bay with a semi-private beach and snorkeling with turtles right out front. The view is terrific, and because it faces west, you can enjoy nightly sunsets from your private patio. Las Casitas have the only tennis court in Akumal, and you are just a few steps away from several restaurants, grocery stores and other services.
Las Casitas Akumal has 14 original Casitas which will accommodate 5 guests (2 Bedrooms, 2 Baths), and 4 larger 2 story casitas (2 Bedrooms, 2.5 Baths) which will sleep 6. All are fully air-conditioned with the large living area and full equipped modern kitchens.
Each of the Las Casitas units enjoys beautiful views of the Caribbean and an oceanside courtyard made private by surrounding tropical gardens and palm trees. Each courtyard is well furnished and makes the perfect setting for enjoying the picturesque setting.
Within a short walk, guests may enjoy Las Casitas private tennis courts and a children's playground. Guests of Las Casitas also enjoy a semi-private sandy beach area along Akumal Bay. This is a great spot for sunbathing, building sand castles and makes a very easy entry point into the sandy-bottomed Akumal Bay for swimming or snorkeling. Safety buoys clearly mark the swimming and snorkeling area, making this an excellent choice for families traveling with children. Restaurants, dive shops, boutiques and other services are within a very short walk. No rental car needed!

5/5* "Beach holiday" by asnha from Italy, Dec 2017, TripAdvisor
One of our favorite place to be in Mexico. These small houses are perfect for families and friends. You walk out of your garden into the beach. Enough restaurants nearby, at walking distance. If you are lucky you will see some turtles too. There are not as many as they used to be in the sea close to the beach.
5/5* "Las Casitas Akumal. The Best" by David H., Kentucky, Sep 2017, TripAdvisor
We stayed at Las Casitas Akumal for a week in late September 2017. Rented a 2 story, 2 bedroom condo on a private beach (a part of Akumal bay). Management team were great and very customer oriented. Angelica took care of the condo like it was her own. Grounds beautiful. Everything inside & outside was the best and beautifully decorated. Walked to a different restaurant each night for dinner. Highly recommend.
5/5* "Great" by CeciliaM405 from Virginia, Jul 2017, TripAdvisor
I love to go to Las Casitas, I wrote a review last year and as I mentioned I would like to request to have blackout drapes to avoid the sunlight that hits the back room of the house at 6 am. I stayed in a large casita. Staff is wonderful, our cleaning ladies were amazing, Angelica, Mary and Reyna great people.
A little bit of trouble with the people taking care of the bay since we didn't wear life jackets which we mention at the front desk, we were told manager was going to contact us but didn't happen, anyway my favorite place. We stayed a week.
5/5* "We'll be back!" by kegshome from Tennessee, Jun 2017, TripAdvisor
We just returned from our favorite vacation ever. Las Casitas is a small, well-guarded community of 18 beachfront homes located on a bay teeming with sea life, that are surrounded by lush native gardens that are lovingly tended. No need to sing in the tile decorated showers - you can hear a bounty of birds play and chase each other while you bathe. A hummingbird nest with 2 young chicks and her protective parents kept us entertained when we weren't out exploring. The Casitas are well maintained and well stocked. The maid service is the best ever! Walking distance or a short drive to a plethora of restaurants, stores and attractions. We rented a car so those who desired could explore the nearby ruins, lagoons, caves, cenotes, etc. We really appreciate the ease of making our reservations - the front desk staff was extremely helpful. Thanks to everyone at Las Casitas for making this a memorable family vacation. We hope to see you again soon!
5/5* "Relaxing week in Akumal" by AbileneTexasDenna from Texas, Jun 2017, TripAdvisor
The Casitas had everything we needed! Quiet and secure in our private beach. I swam with turtles and snorkeled with Parrotfish and Rays. The kitchen was well equipped and very responsive front desk. We loved our housekeeper Dana! Highly recommend and within walking distance to great restaurants.
5/5* "Secure and Beautiful Home Away From Home" by donnajackson_10 from Canada, Jun 2017, TripAdvisor
A 7 night stay at the beautiful Las Casitas Akumal was wonderful. The 2 bedroom/2 bath rental with a full kitchen, dining room and comfortable living area was quiet, private and maintained daily inside and out. The wall of windows and sliding doors facing the beautiful Akumal Bay led to the covered outdoor seating, BBQ pit and comfortable large outdoor dining area in front of your private beach with lounge chairs and umbrellas only for those staying at the Las Casitas. The staff were gracious and friendly.
A short walk led us to wonderful outdoor restaurants featuring fresh fish, wonderful Mexican dishes, great cocktails and excellent service. The local bakery served beautiful baked sweets daily to eat there or take to the casita as a fresh pot of coffee was brewing.
Swimming or snorkeling from the private beach area led to observation of beautiful turtles as well as a nice variety of fish along the reefs.
Security was on staff 24 hours a day. If one is interested in a quiet and peaceful spot to begin a laid back vacation with beautiful views, this is a location to consider.
5/5* "Paradise Found at Las Casitas Akumal" by 54SRB from California, May 2017, TripAdvisor
We stayed for 9 nights at Las Casitas (Unit 2) in May 2017. Everything was wonderful. The unit was immaculately clean (with maid service every day included), the buildings and landscaping were in excellent condition and well-maintained, the staff were welcoming, communicative and helpful. A healthy reef was just at the end of the private walkway from our patio, and the turtles are abundant in Akumal Bay. The beautiful white sand beach stretches for a couple of miles or more to the south--great for walking. Great restaurants, either on the beach or in the small beach community, were within walking distance. Within a five minute drive were a few more beachfront restaurants. The beach right in front of the property was reserved for Las Casitas guests. There is a public beach adjacent and then beaches in front of all-inclusive resorts. None of the beaches were crowded. We drove to the ruins in Tulum and Coba and to Valladolid, a colonial town inland, but we enjoyed most just hanging around our casita. There was even a friendly cat which my kids adored. We have traveled to dozens of countries and many types of places. Because there is so much to see and do around the globe, we seldom return to any place, but this a place we would love to go to again.
5/5* "Great place to stay in Akumal" by Larry E. from Virginia, Aug 2016, TripAdvisor
Quiet and peaceful place to stay in Akumal that is literally about 60 feet from the beach. You can just pick up your snorkel and walk into the water. This is "not" an all inclusive resort, if that is what you are looking for. This is a quiet, simple, relaxed, and safe hotel. The rooms are very well maintained and the staff is friendly. We stayed here on our anniversary and absolutely loved it. The snorkeling was also great here. We saw lots of turtles, rays, eels, schools of tang, and many other fish, all within 200 yards of our hotel.
