Lovely place hidden in Akumal. The views from the flat are amazing! Snorkeling gear available to dive and discover the wonders under the ocean in front of you. I highly recommend renting a car to give you the flexibility to drive around as the place is located at the far end of the bay - and make some groceries shopping too. Staff onsite is really friendly. We were unlucky during our stay, there was lot of power outages, but it did not really affect our trip. Overall great experience and relaxing !

I chose this location specifically to be far noise and people-- and it did not disappoint. I greatly enjoyed having the beach and ocean mostly to myself. The condo is adorable and very clean. The hosts assisted in transport to and from the Cancun airport and with getting a massage and facial (the therapist came to the condo). The kitchen has all of the cooking utensils/equipment you might need, but there wasn't any coffee :-(. Overall, it was a great experience. I would definitely stay again. **Note**: This is a residencial community and there are only a few stores and restaurants within walking distance. Consider paying a little extra to stop at larger grocery stores on the way down if you will need more supplies. Also, you may want to consider renting a bike, golf cart, or car if you want to do any exploring.

An amazing place to relax and enjoy Half Moon Bay. Great snorkeling just steps outside, excellent beachside relax spots, cool iguanas sunning themselves with you. Take a bike down to the corner store, stock up on Rum, juices, and ice, and just hang out! Everything is very close by car, bike, or golfcart, including Akumal Bay beaches, tours, restaurants, Yal-Ku lagoon, all without ever getting in a car. Hector was an amazing host and helped us out in many ways. We'll be back!

In my opinion, this condominium complex has the nicest beachfront (shared with La Sirena) and is the best point of entry for snorkeling on Half Moon Bay. The snorkeling was fantastic. Note that you definitely need water shoes for entry. The water in Half Moon Bay is shallow and you can stand in most places, and throughout the bay. We picked this place for the accessibility for snorkeling and were not disappointed. The weather at the beginning of our trip was unusually windy, but calmed down and the clarity of the water improved to excellent as well. We saw lots of colourful fish, reef squid and stingray.

Our arrival at the beginning of January proved to be quieter than we would have liked - however there was always beachfront lounger/palapa and pool chair space - often completely free of other people. The pools are very cool and refreshing too.

The condo seemed a bit tired and in need of minor maintenance, however Akumal Direct, the condo staff and even the owner responded immediately. The oceanfront view from the condo is stunning - loved waking up to the view every morning. The condo itself has, in my opinion, a design flaw - the bedroom has 2 windows, one in the condo stairwell and the other in the entryway of the neighboring condo - people moving through literally sound like they are right beside the bed (and they are!). The bedroom would have been better off without any windows. The occasional noise can be hidden by the sound of the bedroom air-conditioning unit and we used it every night, just for that reason.

This location, on the north tip of Half Moon Bay, is relatively remote - there are only a few restaurants nearby - we really enjoyed Que Onda! The food was amazing!

Would recommend picking up groceries on the way to the condo.

Don't feel like a car is necessary.

The staff are friendly, but speak little English. I've read other reviews saying that the staff are not friendly - this is simply not true. Try starting any conversation with a personal enquiry like "hello, how are you, it's a beautiful day" as opposed to just asking for things. We found this went a long way when talking to local people in the area. It's harder to remember to do this if you don't speak espanol!

I greatly enjoyed our time at the condo. Met some other wonderful travelers during our stay, but also enjoyed the privacy of the property at the very end of the bay. Great views and snorkeling out front. Waves were a bit intense during our stay so snorkeling was challenging but saw lots of reef life when we did go out. Nearby La Buena Vida restaurant was a favorite as they had great prices & portions and take credit cards. Half Moon Bay is a gem; chill, relaxed vibe compared to the busy Akumal Playa (within walking distance though!). Daily maid service was appreciated as well. Thanks!

Amazing view! Located at a quiet corner of Akumal, this place has a breathtaking view of the ocean and a private beach at the doorstep. The private beach has comfortable chairs and there are very few people. The beach has no seeweed issue at all, unlike other beaches in the area. The room is large and clean and the staff is very hospitable. I rented a bike to get around and the Akumal village is very beautiful for bike-riding.

Walk into the condo an realize the pictures do not do it justice. Magnificent! ...and all of the concerns about seaweed do not apply. The unique corner of bay steers it far away. The security at the bay entrance and throughout the complex is excellent. Hector's assistance in getting bags and groceries into the condo. Perfectly manicured beach and grounds. Things I would do again: Stop by Walmart (Playacar) en route and stock the fridge/ pick up water shoes. Dinner or drinks every night at La Lunita. Hire Ahmed (at La Lunita) to do an every other day excursion (cenotes, ruins, Cozumel, hidden restaurants). Drift-snorkel every day from the private beach. Stayed at a four-star resort near the airport the last night in Mexico....but longing to be back at La Iguana, Akumal.

We loved this space, it is exactly as pictured and is very beautiful. We loved our time here and would recommend it to anyone looking to stay in north Akumal.

Amazing location! Snorkeling right out the back door and amazing views

We loved La Iguana (unit #4), would absolutely return. Two pools, private beach access, friendly and helpful staff, and a killer view from the condo - can't really go wrong. We rented bikes for $8/day and bicycled to town each morning for breakfast, Turtle Bay is great and has incredible espresso. A handful of other good bars, restaurants, and convenience stores are walking distance from the condo, otherwise it's a pretty quiet, snoozy part of Akumal (which we loved). Snorkeling off the La Iguana beach is pretty great but rocky and shallow, watched a lot of people walk all over the coral which was sad. Overall a great spot to spend a few days relaxing, eating tacos, and soaking up some sun.
