Beautiful Condo in Fantastic Location

Playa Caribe is a beachfront condo building, located 1 mile from the arch. Condo #6 is beautifully furnished with amazing views of HMB. The kitchen had everything needed to prepare breakfast and lunch. Beds were very comfortable and bathrooms quite nice. Housekeeping and gardeners kept everything immaculate. Pool and beach area are lovely.

Akumal at It's Best

The location is wonderful (close to several restaurants and town) with a small store across the street, plus it has a pool which isn't available at most of the condo buildings on Half Moon Bay. The service is everything you hope for from the rental process to assistance during your stay...even changing a flat tire for me. Both units were well appointed and had everything you could possibly need. Top that off with daily maid service for the utmost in cleanliness and taking housekeeping chores off your schedule and who could ask for anything more? We rent condos and houses around the world several times a year and this place is one of our favorites.

The resort was very quiet, we rented in August so this could be off season? There was no concierge to ask for information on things to do etc. We had the bay virtually to ourselves for the reef snorkelling. Lots of reviews for this area mention the seaweed but we didn't have any issue. There was a security guard there at night so property felt safe. The apartment is beautifully decorated and very spacious. My teenage children shared the twim room and the beds were enormous! It is 20 minutes from the ruins of Tulum by car.

Lovely Stay at Playa Caribe

Augustin was very helpful and Patricia was wonderful. It was so nice and quiet. My husband said it was his most relaxing vacation in years. Our teenager loved having his own space, a beach out front, and consistent and reliable wifi. We look forward to returning.

Beware of sargassum
Reviewed on 2023-04-16 by Rebekah F. , Bloomfield Hills, MI USThis condo looked just like the pictures in terms of the building and the inside of the unit though the unit had a bit of a damp, musty smell. The people running the property were very friendly and available to answer any of our questions we had and provide assistance at a moment's notice when needed. The woman who cleaned our unit everyday did an impeccable job which was a good thing because even if there was just a crumb of food somewhere in the kitchen there would be a trail of tiny ants that would find their way to it. Unfortunately, the sargassum has completely taken over the beach and sea in most of Half Moon Bay and especially around Playa Caribe. The main reason I booked this specific condo was to spend the week with a beach right outside of the condo. Instead we had to find cenotes and other places to swim but at least we had a car. Beware that the beach down the road is $6US per person and if you want to drive the mile to it that is another $5. It also wasn't very pleasant to just hang out by the pool because once it sits for a while the sargassum produces a sulfer (rotten egg) smell. I know that this isn't anything that anyone has control over and we made the most of it but it was still disappointing.<br/><br/>

Great Stay in Akumal

We traveled with a large group and David with Akumal Direct was a wonderful help with arranging transportation for all our group even though some were staying at other condos. The team at Playa Caribe from the office, security, housekeeping and clean up crew were all excellent. We really enjoyed the fresh fruit that got brought to us daily. Our one complaint on this trip would be the rocks and seaweed at the beach. This is obviously uncontrollable by Playa Caribe and we knew this was going to be a thing which makes it excellent to have a pool. Bring water shoes if you plan to go in the ocean. The views and cleanliness of this location can not be beat.

Great Stay

There were lots of extra touches like a fresh pineapple and bananas when we arrived, games in the cabinet and beach chairs. The kitchen had everything we needed. We snorkeled in the bay right outside the condo and saw beautiful fish. I would definitely recommend to others.

Great Condo and Location

Reviewed on 2022-11-21 by Holly G. , MexicoThe unit is decorated with the most wonderful, Mexican folk art that I have ever seen, and I’ve visited this area seven times. The furniture was clean, comfortable, and in very good shape. There was some real thoughtful decorating going on here from the art, to the bedspreads, to the pillows. A very welcoming unit.
The grounds and pool were kept up nicely. Some days there were quite a few people at the pool and other days we had it to ourselves. Never a problem. We also had a few days of sargassum, but we still had days we were still able to swim in the ocean and walk on the beach. The beach is not wide and it is very rocky when entering the ocean.
Housekeeping is excellent and friendly. Office staff is often not available, but if you are patient, you will find someone eventually that can help you. Our power and water went out a few times due to nearby construction, but was restored within a reasonable amount of time.
The location was excellent. We were able to walk easily to Yal Ku lagoon, several local shops, restaurants and into town. There’s also a nice parking lot if you rent a car.
Price for value is excellent. Highly recommended.
Playa Caribe #6 has gorgeous, unending views of sea, sky, and pool. You could watch sunrises and sunsets from your balcony. The balcony is large and equipped with a table and four chairs plus a comfy rocker.<br/><br/>The unit is decorated with the most wonderful, Mexican folk art that I have ever seen, and I’ve visited this area seven times. Locogringo was fantastic and addressed a couple minor maintenance issues immediately. Their concierge was also super helpful. Kids loved the small pool. Only complaint was that the seaweed came in early (March) so the beach wasn’t usable, but that is beyond anyone’s control. We would go back in a heartbeat.

A Dream Come True!

This condo is gorgeously decorated, super clean, and right in the middle of this sweet bay! The ocean is steps away :) Everything you need for a relaxing vacation. The staff are incredible people whose work is the magic behind it all - thank you for your generosity of spirit and care for this beautiful place :)

The on-site management provided very good customer service and cleaning. I would recommend the property to a friend. On-site we enjoyed the well-maintained beach and pool areas, and snorkeling from the beach. The concierge service was very responsive and helpful in arranging transportation and reservations when needed. The La Buena Vida restaurant is within walking distance and has excellent water views, food and drinks.
Akumal is not what is used to be ...

Less public access to the beach, larger crowds, more aggressive vendors pestering you for money. Plus the time we stayed at Playa Caribe there were multiple families with small children that created a lot of noise. The fact that Playa Caribe doesn't have very good sound insulation didn't help the matter. The previous times we've stayed at Playa Caribe it didn't matter because most of the guests were adults and respected each other's privacy - not so this time. We wound up cutting our trip to Playa Caribe short because of the noise.

As art lovers the owners have filled the condo with art purchased from local artists and Mexican folk art. The white walls of this spacious condo provide the perfect backdrop for the bright, lively collection.
- There are 2 oversized bedrooms (1 king bed in master bdrm. and 2 dbl. beds in 2nd bedroom) with handwoven Oaxacan spreads on all beds.
- There are 2 full baths with hand-painted sinks, high quality lines, tiled baths in each. The kitchen is fully equipped. The living room and dining area chairs/couches are covered in bright, tropical fabrics.
- Our oceanfront patio is fully furnished and we also have 2 back patios looking out to the jungle with a bbq on one patio and small table/chairs on the 2nd patio.
In our living room area we have a TV, CD player, DVD player, books, games, cards. We have beach chairs, umbrellas, boogie boards in our closet for guests to use. Hairdryers are in each bath and an iron, ironing board, safe are all in the closet for our guests.
Playa Caribe staff & their services: When you are a guest at Playa Caribe you will have daily maid service, private parking, 24 hour security, maintenance men on site and the services of our front desk manager, Agustin. He can make any reservations you need from renting a golf cart or car, arranging transportation, reserving tee times, dinner reservations, excursions including the Sian Kaan Biosphere trip, reconfirming your flights---Agustin is there to help you with any request you may have.

When we 'found' Akumal 14 years ago we fell in love with this charming village and Playa Caribe. We knew that this was where we wanted to own our vacation home.
