La Tortuga and La Mirage are two condo buildings located side by side right on the white sandy beach of Akumal's Half Moon Bay. These condos share a lovely beachside pool, and the fabulous onsite gourmet restaurant "La Lunita".
These condos are bright and spacious with 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, well-appointed living areas, complete kitchens, private terraces, and fabulous views across the bay where you can see sea turtles, rays, and a variety of tropical fish going about their day to day activities.
Spectacular sun and moonrises can also be enjoyed from your private terrace here. On the beach, there are plenty of sun loungers and shady palapas for you to enjoy, and there are plenty of local amenities within short walking distance, including dive shops, boutiques, bars, restaurants, and the natural aquarium that is Yalku Lagoon.
La Tortuga and La Mirage are an excellent option for families and groups of friends looking for a relaxing getaway, with everything you need onsite.

Laid back not a 5 star but super clean and comfy. Loved the view from balcony. Condo well equipped no a/c in living areas but bedroom gets nice and cold for sleeping. You definitely need water shoes. Water was super warm and clean, didn't see many fish but water was rough while here. Not busy at all but limited beach loungers.
5/5* "Shhhh, don't tell anyone!" by Mike-1636 from Canada, Nov 2017, TripAdvisor
What a great spot! I really don't need to say much more than that. However, I'd be remiss if I didn't give credit where credit is due. Hacienda de las Tortugas is a fantastic condo complex, clean, all the amenities, and more. We love the location, but some may find the walk into Akumal proper (1.5k) more than they want, but for us it's ideal, you can't just sit on the beach 12 hours a day, well some could. lol. We started every day with a 30-45 minute walk, sometimes followed by breakfast, other days we skipped and just had coffee, or tea. The complex also has one of the best restaurants, La Lunita, right on site. The staff go above and beyond every day to meet your needs, sometimes as simple as anticipating your need, to providing something that isn't even on the menu. Your condo is cleaned everyday, there's room service if you want to eat in. In respect to the restaurant I don't think there is a bad choice on the menu, and we tried just about everything over our three week stay. The waiters, Aaron, Tony, Carlos, Miquel, Ernesto, Chepa, excuse my spelling if it's wrong, or if I missed anyone are all great guys, and as mentioned will really look after you. The bay provides incredible snorkelling, no need to go to Turtle Bay, although if you want to you can, it's just much more crowed, where as in Half Moon Bay many times you'll be alone. We saw large stingrays, turtles, barracuda, and on one day we saw ten squid at the same time, not to mention all the standard reef fish, pretty cool. One of the other guests saw a nurse shark, we tried to find it, but no luck. There is plenty of variety in the local restaurants, and if you rent a car as we did for a few days you can travel to many nearby areas for a taste of the local culture, some different food choices, ruins, etc. Again, I can't say enough, great spot, great people, and a truly relaxing vacation. Thanks to the gang at Hacienda de las Tortugas!
5/5* "Paradise can be found at Hacienda de la Tortuga" by retiredchick1214 from Minnesota, Nov 2017, TripAdvisor
My husband and I (plus another couple) just returned from a two week stay in condo #4 at Hacienda de la Tortuga, We had stayed in Akumal many times, but never at this condo. Previously we had stayed at another condo nearby but that one was booked and we then chose Hacienda de la Tortuga. I am glad we did. We found the condo quiet, peaceful and beautiful. Our condo was a two bedroom, each with a king size bed. One bathroom was just off the bedroom and the other bedroom had its own bathroom. Our kitchen had a coffee pot, blender and microwave plus a gas stove and refrigerator. We had a large dining table inside or we could dine outside on the balcony which was large and looked out over the ocean. The snorkeling was fun and exciting. We had the opportunity to see many species we had not seen before as the snorkeling pressure is much less on Half Moon Bay than in Akumal. Roberto, the manager, was very approachable and responsive with any concerns or questions we had. He was always friendly and the staff at Hacienda de la Tortuga are very helpful. The only concern we had was condo #4 did not have a safe available to us in the room. Roberto advised us the area was very safe and we need not worry. They also have a security guard who patrols the condo at night and we often saw him late in the evening. We never had any issues even walking in the area at night. I will say the WiFi was spotty at best but we have found this to be the case where ever we have stayed in Mexico. We like to cook in our condo plus explore the surrounding restaurant options. The kitchen was well stocked for cooking in house. The on-site restaurant, La Lunita, would rival any gourmet restaurant in the U.S. The food is delicious, presented beautifully and the staff is great. Ernesto, their bartender, makes an excellent margarita!! The grounds are kept in great condition and the pool is kept very clean. Overall, our stay there was so relaxing and I can't wait to go back. We have found our new home away from home in Mexico!!
5/5* "Great Condo for a week of vacation" by Lin Z. from Pennsylvania, Nov 2017, VRBO
Great place for a family of four. Close to many attractions. The condo has a great view of half moon bay. The water in the half moon bay is very shallow and calm. We walked into the water for at least 200 feet and saw many fish and sea creatures. Very safe for young kids and non-swimmers. The Super Chomak in Akumal has everything we need for a week of groceries. The restaurant downstairs offers great food for half the price we would have paid in US.
4/5* "Great location, pool and restaurant. VERY RELAXING!" by Christine H., Aug 2017, VRBO
We loved the condo. Very clean, quiet and relaxing. We were surprised that we had maid service and tried to only use them a few times during our stay. We told the prop mgr about the switch that operated the bedroom ceiling fan was extremely hot and was giving off a bad electrical smell. He came and changed it out immediately. There were only a couple of items that I was slightly disappointed with: 1. The couch, which is made of cement, could use some new cushions. 2. An upgraded tv might be nice, but I know people don't watch tv on vacation, however, for those who like to watch the news, it would be mice. The condo was so nice. We really enjoyed it. The beach is rocky and shallow but very nice. The location is about 1 mile from town and easily walkable. There are some areas, closer to the condo, or north Akumal, that has very strong smells associated to it. I can only smell it out on the road, not while in the condo or by the beach. The last thing I have to say and was very surprised with was the staff. The property staff just did not seem very helpful or friendly. But I am sure they are used to people coming and going and maybe not being very nice to them. So many different cultures are living in this small community and they all get along nicely. We do plan to return because we enjoyed ourselves and relaxed so much! Oh, the restaurant was amazing. So nice to go downstairs, without shoes, and enjoy some good food, drinks and service. Thank you so much for letting us stay. We loved it so much!!
5/5* "Private, quiet location with amazing views" by Christine D., May 2017, VRBO
Clean, well equipped, large unit was perfect. Lovely ocean view, nice breeze, beach and pool amenities like chairs and palapas available. The property was well maintained. We had housekeeping services every day which we did not expect. Check in was easy. There is a good restaurant - La Lunita - on premises. Location was perfect, we visited several ruins sites, cenotes, Tulum, etc but nice to leave the more crowded areas behind at the end of the day and have a swim at half moon bay or the pool. We had both pretty much to ourselves the whole week we were there. We would definitely return. Great experience.
5/5* "Mirage #1 Condo is Excellent" by BenGrom from Colorado, Apr 2017, TripAdvisor
We stayed at La Mirage #1 Condo at Hacienda de la Tortuga, next to La Lunita restaurant, at Half Moon Bay, in Akumal North, Mexico. The condo is a 2-bedroom, 2-bath, condo, with a beach porch. It has a full kitchen. It has a porch that is 30 steps to the ocean water across a white sandy beach with lounge chairs and a thatched covered table and seating area. It's one of the most beautiful places I have stayed at. It's better than the big hotels in Cancun or the expensive huts in Tulum or the massively crowded resorts in Playa del Carmen. And the place is cleaned professionally every day, including making the beds and washing the dishes. And the service, staff, and manager, whose name is Roberto, is friendly. I highly recommend any of the condos here.
5/5* "Beautiful location" by Terri B. from Missouri, Apr 2017, TripAdvisor
Wonderful condo on the beach, with a well supplied kitchen. Excellent house keeping staff, and friendly manager. Air conditioned bedrooms, and comfortable beds. Plenty of room for 4 adults. Enjoyed our stay, saving this condo for our future visits.
5/5* "Perfect location for active folks!" by Veronica H., Mar 2017, VRBO
Very well-kept property. Nice that the restaurant is here if you don't want to leave the area for dinner. Location was perfect. Close to two other restaurants, walk to Akumal Beach to snorkel with turtles, walk to many restaurants, shopping, grocery in Akumal Bay, walk to lagoon Yal Ku to snorkel with amazing tropical fish, walk out onto your beach and snorkel right there at the hotel and see amazing things as well. Bring your own snorkel gear and shoes for the rocky beach to enter the ocean.
5/5* "It was perfect" by jane50 from Little Rock, Dec 2016, TripAdvisor
Hacienda de la Tortuga is a beautiful, serene sanctuary. I don't think I've ever stayed at a condo I've enjoyed more. Stunning views, best restaurant in Akumal, cozy, private beach. And Roberto, the manager, was so helpful and lovely. I felt as if our well-being was really important to him. Hated to leave and will definitely be back!
5/5* "Paradise" by Peggy W. from Massachusetts, Dec 2016, TripAdvisor
We found this hotel by chance and couldn't have been happier. Beautiful clean suite on the second floor with a veranda onto the beautiful white sandy beach and incomparably clear water. The suite had everything we needed and was extremely comfortable and pretty. The restaurant, on the beach downstairs, was delicious. Everyone was friendly and helpful and we had a delightful stay. We plan to return next year with more family and friends!
