We loved our stay at Casa Cavu! The amenities were amazing. The chef, Isidro, was great. He and his wife were friendly and helpful. The location was perfect. We did rent a car to make getting around easier but Akumal Direct helped us with transportation and answered any questions we had. Do not sleep on this place! This was traveling made easy and we would 100% visit again!

Casa Cavu was awesome. We were a family of 7 and the house was perfect for us. Having the beautiful pool right there so close to the ocean made it great to go swim in the ocean and then hop in the pool to cool down. The kayaks were a great. We spent time using them and then snorkeling out away from shore. The A/C worked great and made it comfortable on the inside. Large kitchen with everything you need. The onsite hosts were awesome. The gentleman kept the beach spotless and pristine. The kids loved his little dog. Rhett stopped by and was great as well. The little tienda just down the road is great as well when you are running out of drinks! We stopped in Tulum and bought groceries and took them to the house and it worked perfectly.

We enjoyed every bit of our stay at Casa Cavu. Our home was always kept so clean and the meals were amazing. We enjoyed the view from the rooftop areas and birdwatching from up there was quite the experience. The tropical garden was mesmerizing and very peaceful. There’s something pretty and interesting everywhere you look. The property management team was very helpful. They were friendly and kind and made the stay even more magical for our family. The local restaurants were also very enjoyable and accommodating. We have no complaints whatsoever. We were catered to in any way we asked and left alone for ample privacy and quiet time. It was perfect. We plan on returning.

Casa Cavu is beautiful and just as described in photos and property description! The house had absolutely our family of four needed for the week. We had little contact with Akumel Direct, but the property manager, Rhett stopped in Monday morning. He gave us some great information and was responsive when I later contacted him. The caretaker and maid were who we had daily contact with and they were AMAZING! Rocio kept the home spotless and Isidro worked overtime keeping the beach free of sargassm which was plentiful. We truly had the cleanest beach for as far as you could walk. He also keeps the property gardens gorgeous! The home is 10 minutes from Tulum to the south and 10 minutes to Akumul to the north. We found lots to do and great restaurants within 20-30 minutes of the house. The best meals we had were prepared by Isidro. Coming home to a private beach and pool in a quiet neighborhood were delightful! If we return to this region, we will definitely come back to Casa Cavu!

We really enjoyed our stay at the Beach House inTulum. The house was perfect for 4 adults. Icidro and Rocio, the house managers kept the house spotless. Icidro cooked an authentic Mexican meal twice during the week and both were absolutely delicious. We had a few groceries delivered and they were there when we arrived. There are several nice restaurants within walking distance but we had a car and were able to go into Tulum, visit the Mayan ruins, and swim in the cenote. But relaxing at the beach house was the best!

I cannot say enough good things about this property and the caretakers, Isidro and Rocio. The property is located in a quiet area of Tulum right on Tankah Bay. Beautiful snorkeling right outside the property. Our family loved the property so much, that our favorite days of our vacation were simply staying back and enjoying the ocean and pool. Isidro cleaned the seaweed and raked the beach every morning. During our stay, the seaweed was a non-issue. Very small amount. Rocio cleaned the house every day. They were both diligent and it was so appreciated. The pool and home were pristine. The home had everything we needed including filtered water, oil, spices, etc. Everything was truly perfect for our family. We hope to be back again!

I came to Casa Cavu with four friends to enjoy a week together. The place is beautiful - a fantastic beach, a delightful pool and near several cenotes. The caretakers are lovely and quite accommodating. The house was impeccably clean. If you stay here you should budget for taxis to and from Tulum, but this was worth it for the quality of the space we had. Highly recommended!

We stayed for 5 nights with my sister, wife and 2 kids. We had perfect weather other than a stray T storm and Isidro made most of our BFs and dinners. He's a good chef- we stayed at a different VRBO last year and had a very good chef so our expectations were high - he was very personable and the presentation was great.) Rocio as a cleaning lady was a godsend. Overall, enjoy the white sand, gorgeous bay, perfect pool, and tons of cenotes for great morning trips. Even a day trip to the ruins was nice.

We had an amazing stay at Casa Cavu! The location, right on a beautiful beach and only 10 minutes from downtown Tulum, was perfect. The house had great spaces, large rooms, excellent kitchen. The pool area was our favorite place to hang, cool off, and view the ocean through the palm trees. The caretakers Isidro and Rocio were friendly, inviting, and cooked us a wonderful meal. This is a place we will definitely come back. Thanks for the wonderful time - Larry, Lynn, Sarah and Elisabeth Chun

So many great things to say about this property. We stayed for a week. 2 adults, 2 kids. We did not rent a car and it worked out great. We hired a car service to get us to and from the airport (through the property concierge) and it was perfect. We had a private chef come for our first day and that was awesome. A lot of leftovers. The other days Isidro prepared a meal otherwise we ate out. The house is perfect. Isidro does a nice job of maintaining the beach and Rocio cleaning the house.
The house was more than enough for our single family but we enjoyed the spaciousness and large pool. We brought Air mattresses with us from home which was great. Bring water shoes too. For the water kayaking and the cenotes.
Excursions: Dos Ojos cenote, the Tulum ruins, Casa Cenote, Akumal monkey sanctuary. All of it was awesome. Had taxis wait for us and do a round trip which made it easier. For food, we ate at tankah inn, Casa Cenote, the Italian place, chamicos, taco honorio, Celti - all were great
Kids had a great time. We felt very safe and taken care of. We will definitely be back!!

What a great stay my wife and I had at Casa Cavu. Beautiful beach and pool. House was comfortable, spotless, and had fantastic views. Easy drive to the hip restaurants of the Tulum beach road and a great jumping off point to see the ruins in Tulum, Coba, and Chichen Itza. Also swam in some hidden cenotes and saw a sea turtle one night on the beach looking for a nesting place. Isidro and Rocio were wonderful caretakers and made us a delicious meal near the end of our stay. Hope we can go back one day.

The first thing that came to mind when we arrived at Casa Cavu on Feb. 5th was that the pictures do not do the property justice! Arriving a little later than we would have liked on Sunday evening, our group of 6 was met by Isidro at the front door. He showed us around and made sure we were all settled in. The place is kept immaculate by Isidro and his wife Rocio. Huge, fully equipped kitchen, large bedrooms, just a beautiful home! And the grounds: From the L-shaped pool to the beach that Isidro rakes every day, and great landscaping. And when I say it was right on the beach, I mean about 15 steps from the pool to the water! As part of our package, we had Isidro and Rocio prepare two meal for us. The first was lobster and shrimp on Wednesday, and then a traditional Mayan pork dish on Friday night. Amazing being pampered like that. Casa Cavu was everything we wanted and so much more. And the location is really great as well. Easy to get to. just minutes to Tulum and Akumal, plus great restaurants and a cenote within walking distance. We will be back! Muchas gracias, Isidro y Rocio and Akumal Direct Reservations!

Not much I can say that hasn't already. This was our fourth stay at Casa Cavu and was just as wonderful as always. Location is great. If you like to shell make the walk north around the turn for urchins. Don't miss ceviche at Casa Cenote. Definitely, spend time in both Tulum and Playa Tulum. We always enjoy Mateo's for a sunset but be ready for the mosquitoes. Last note, make the drive south to Sian Ka'an.

Casa Cavu is an amazing home. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The house is very clean and well cared for. Isidro and Roceo are excellent. They keep the property well maintained and he is an excellent chef. There is no air conditioning in the common areas, so it can get quite hot. However, the breeze on the back porch keeps it feeling cool. Also, there were some small ants in the kitchen, but they weren't too much trouble. All in all, we loved this house and very much enjoyed our stay. We definitely recommend it!

We actually went in January 2015, but we plan to go back next year. If you stay here go to the surf/boat shop by the restaurant right down the road. The guys who own the shop (local and super nice), ask them for a private tour and lunch. These guys will take you to catch a fresh seafood lunch and cook it for you. IT IS BY FAR THE BEST FOOD WE HAVE EVER EATEN! Amazing!!!
Housekeepers are sweet, quite and so informative. The man hacked down coconuts for us after a long night of drinking. Perfect hangover cure.
Don't drive a rental, take a cab. So much more to talk about.

My wife and I were fortunate enough to stay at Casa Cavu recently for our Honeymoon. I can't say enough about how awesome the house is. It was perfect for us! The pool is amazing and we loved the beach just steps outside our door. We have been to this area twice now and will be returning to Tankah Bay for our next visit. I'd highly recommend Casa Cavu to anyone looking to visit the Akumal/Tulum area. To top it off, Isidoria makes amazing food and his wife Rocio was there to keep the place clean. The worst part of the house and trip was having to leave to go back to Colorado. We'll be back!

Stayed at Casa Cavu w/ friends in January. This house was our 2nd choice, first choice was already booked. So glad we ended up at Casa Cavu! The pool was used more than we thought it would. The weather was gorgeous! Esidro was the best chef! The food he cooked was amazing! Don't miss the lobster! Rocio does an excellent job cleaning every day. The house was cleaned top to bottom every day! The beach in front of Casa Cavu was the best in the neighborhood and Esidro cleans it daily. Good snorkeling right out the front door.

We enjoyed our recent stay in Casa Cavu particularly because of the staff! I can't thank them enough. They made our stay easy, like a hotel. The staff kept the house clean, gave us recommendations for local spots. They went far and above general Airbnb cleaning service. The home was lovely, very spacious, next to a beautiful shoreline. The entire shoreline was full of saragossa (seaweed) though they try to clean it every day. It is just too much to keep up; some other areas in the coast are worse. Though we didn't swim in this beach area we did enjoy the view and relaxing on the sand (soft sand). There are a few sea turtle nests on the property and hope a guest will be lucky to see them hatch in fall. We had plenty of lines, beach towels, etc. The area is guarded by security and very quiet. There is a hotel next door that makes great cocktails and delicious food. Note on the Construction: The crew was there on some days of our trip. The construction did not bother us though we were also out touring in the day time and it may bother some people. We would stay again with the construction and all.

The house is nice, fully equipped, and was just right for our group of 7. We made use of the kayaks almost daily. The on-site staff are delightful and welcoming. We did not see or meet the management staff, but they were responsive before our arrival. As mentioned by earlier reviews, the directions to the house need updating. Unfortunately, the wind was absolutely howling the entire time and the sargasso arrived just prior to our stay. To be clear, neither are the fault of the property or staff, but I would strongly recommend booking your stay for another time (we were there in late March/early April.

We visited Casa Cavu 11 years ago. It was fun to come back! The house is still a little jewel.
The care takers are wonderful! Akumal Direct was very helpful with answers to our questions before our arrival.
Casa Cenote Restaurant is just a short walk down the beach from Casa Cavu, and well worth it!
We hope to return again, some day!

If you're looking for a quieter vacation experience this is perfect. Very nice Bay with great snorkeling right in front of the house. The water access is Rocky but if you have your fins on it's not a problem. Very few people on the beach so it feels like you have the whole place to yourself. There are approximately five local restaurants in nearby boutique hotels you can walk to and a cenote. The home was very clean and The master bed was comfortable. Unfortunately the couches really are not. But you don't spend much time in the house anyway. My only complaint would be the lack of hot water. In order to take a shower you need to turn the hot water only on and it's lukewarm at best. Overall a great vacation property with excellent on-site managers. Felt safe and well taken care of the entire time. Also it's an easy 10-minute drive into Tulum if you're looking to visit a busier area.

Casa Cavu is a beautiful house in Tanka 3. We had a great week there. The caretakers, Isidro and Roccio have done a lovely job maintaining the house. We ate at all of the restaurants on the beach and enjoyed each one. Casa Cenote is just short walk down the beach and a great place for tacos and margaritas. Our first day there we had some really nice snorkeling straight off our beach. It got a little breezy for the rest of our stay in March- I guess this is typical, but we had a great time exploring the Tulum ruins, and nearby towns. Our best meal was, by far, the lobster feast that Isidro cooked for us. Don't miss the opportunity to have him cook up something special for you! The only downside to our stay was the wifi- there was weak to no signal. It was fine, but on the few occasions we needed to do some work in the "real world" it was impossible. While that was a mixed blessing, we also couldnt stream any music, movies, etc. The upside is we got to watch the waves and listen to the breeze in the palm trees. Great place, and we'd stay there again.

Title says it all. We spent 7 nights here with our 4 kids. The location is away from the chaos of Tulum, but only about a 10 min drive. The caretakers were so wonderful (scoop: Isidro is an AMAZING chef - cooked up our fresh fish like a pro), and kept the house and grounds immaculate. The snorkeling out front is good, but depends on the currents; the cenote drains into the bay and the water clarity is hit and miss due to the fresh/saltwater mixing. Nights were just amazing to look at the stars on the top roof. A/C in each room, keep it as warm or cool as you'd like. Some days the breeze was strong off the water, other days calm. We would stay here again in a heartbeat!

We stayed here as a "vacation in place" during COVID. The house is beautiful and the pool is great! The views are lovely from every angle. Make sure you bring or buy beach shoes. We also brought our own snorkel gear, which we believe is a must. There are reviews that accurately state that the beach is really rocky (it is on a reef after all), but not ideal for smaller ones. I will state that the internet in the area is very uncertain, not because of the property, but because of the providers. You must also have a car to stay here because the area is without many amenities. If you are looking to disconnect and appreciate a beach getaway, this is a beautiful home.

If you like/need your creature comforts and technology, you may find this location lacking and frustrating. We had work and school, so it was not ideal for our family. We understand that Tankah Bay is not good for internet and there is a lot of seaweed that comes into the bay.

Everyone was kind and considerate. We are the type of family that like places to congregate, appreciate the ability to getaway to our space and watch a program, and comfy beds. This is not that kind of home. This is a beautiful and simple home that has few amenities beyond the beauty of location.

We stayed in Casa Cavu in May 2008. There were 4 adults, 2 4-year olds, and 2-infants. It was so wonderful and had everything we needed. We really felt no need to even leave the property. The caretakers were amazing. You must let Isidoro cook for you. Do it the first night and you will be hooked. I would definitely stay again and recommend it to a friend. You never know what you are actually going to get but Casa Cavu really looked just like the beautiful photos online.

The staff was great and Isidro and Rocio were wonderful, esp. their cooking! We experienced a lot of blowing rain and water came through the windows/doors. Our expensive leather briefcase had water damage. This was the only negative. Otherwise, stay was fabulous and we loved the location. We would consider the house again. Having the pool was very nice!

This property was a dream come true for our family who was grieving the loss of two family members within the past few months. Everything was perfect -- an oasis away from the busy Christmas holiday season around us. Only suggestion would be that non-perishibles (spices, condiments, canned goods, etc.) be left for the next guests to use -- we had to purchase everything we needed and, thus, had to leave behind a fair amount of food products (following the "green" reuse philosophy). Another suggestion would be that the property manager, Rhett, check in with guests more than his one-time arrival greeting. He was our only English speaking contact and when attempting to reach him by phone only got a fax line. Otherwise, this vacation could not have been any better!! Thank you Marcia at Akumal Direct!!!

This was a wonderful home in the Tankah Bay area of the Mayan Riveria. The home was wonderful - not too hot in June and air-conditioned bedrooms. The caretakers (Isidro and Rocio) were warm and friendly and wonderful. The location is fantastic, unless you like lots of high-rise hotels and resort action. It's relatively quiet and peaceful and very tranquil. A wonderful place to visit. We will return!

Casa Cavu was wonderful!! The house was perfect and the staff were exceptional!! We were staying in our own little corner of paradise. We were centrally located to all that we wanted to do, and when we wanted to spend the day at the house, there was a gorgeous beach, pristine pool, and hammocks to enjoy all day. We could even walk along the street to our home or the beach in front of the home, and visit a couple of restaurants, a snack store, and even made some friends. We would highly recommend this location!!

The house is really nice and we truly enjoyed the beautiful views and peaceful location. However, the house does need certain updates that would accommodate guests better. A larger tv is needed, especially during this time where people want to stay in because of Covid. Also we experienced a rather larger tropical storm and the power was on and off for two days which was inconvenient. Maybe having a small generator would be handy. The caretaker Isidro and his wife are sweethearts, and would do anything to make you feel at home. I highly recommend his flan, ceviche and Mexican stew. Overall it was a great place to stay!
