Description

Casa Luna is a beautiful home on the Caribbean with a spectacular ocean view.

This 4 bedroom house is located on the southern end of Half Moon Bay in Akumal, Mexico, 68 miles south of Cancun International airport. It sits adjacent to a small, natural park, giving it an open, roomy feel. The entry into this spectacular vacation home is a walk through a beautiful garden oasis, lined with flowering plants and palm trees, providing excellent privacy.

The main house has three bedrooms and many outdoor terraces and balconies. There is also a separate studio casita which can be rented with the main house, or, seasonally, without.

The main floor of the villa includes a large Guest Bedroom with king-size bed and private bath, and a second bedroom beside the pool with 2 double beds and another full bathroom. The living room is yours to relax in or take a swim! It opens onto a large outdoor dining patio, overlooking the dazzling blue sea. The patio has a tiled, built-in barbecue for your grilling pleasure. If you would like to prepare your own meals, the kitchen has everything you need, with a full indoor dining room as well. There is also a cook available by request for an extra cost.

The second floor is home to the Master Suite/Apartment, with a king size bed, full bathroom, ocean view and a large terrace that leads to the roof top observatory. This master suite also has a private, fully equipped kitchen and small balcony- complete with table and chairs overlooking the gardens and sea.

The third floor is a tower room/cocktail bar with a breathtaking, 360 degree view of shimmering Caribbean waters, jungle, and all of Akumal. The most incredible view around!

The garden casita is at the entrance to the house above the enclosed two-car garage. This cozy studio is fully furnished with a king-size bed, full bathroom, living and dining bar area with TV and DVD, and a fully equipped kitchen. It also has an inviting large balcony with ocean and garden views.

Outdoors, there is a nice pool (10x38squ ft) on the west side of the house surrounded by tropical plants and flowers. There is a charcoal BBQ grill outdoors for alfresco cooking and plenty of outdoor living space and outdoor furniture for enjoying our lovely warm climate!

Casa Luna is a great choice for families or friends. It has great views and is conveniently located within walking distance of everything in the village.

I can’t say enough about how much our traveling party absolutely adored this house. The pictures - while numerous - can’t really tell the story of how this place comes together as a cohesive home. There is just so much to this property! There are four lovely bedrooms, three in the main house and one in a gorgeous guest house just adjacenct. Each has an en suite bathroom and shower so everyone can spread out. The upstairs bedroom even has its own kitchen and outdoor dining area! But there are also so many super comfy gathering places for everyone to enjoy, including a main living room, dining room and kitchen inside the main house, and plenty of options outside - including a big al fresco dining table off the living room and a series of Adirondack chairs and tables set all around the extensive property for hangout purposes. The sea views and sounds of crashing surf just added to the relaxation factor! Plus the pool of course and hammocks and a fantastic housekeeper and groundskeeper and what else am I missing? :) In short we loved this place and almost immediately began plotting our next visit. This home just exceeded every one of our expectations. Strongly, strongly recommend!

This was our 7th trip to Akumal and our 4th stay at Casa Luna. We don't stay anywhere else now because we love Casa Luna so much!

I previously reviewed the wonderful house and its beautiful gardens, huge terraces and stunning views, so this time I'll mention the fantastic people who make every stay so perfect.

This vacation rental agency is wonderful to work with. Payment is easy, they are extremely professional and responsive. We absolutely LOVE Ingrid, who manages the property, as well as her assistant/co-manager! They are both so welcoming, friendly and helpful. Rosa and Humberto are fantastic, and they take excellent care of the house and gardens.

We feel very safe, comfortable and cared for at Casa Luna. And as a bonus, it's very private with no Sargasso/seaweed due to the rocky outcropping. There are no jet skis or boats on Half Moon Bay, so Casa Luna is very serene and a great place to relax. We had a masseuse come to the house for massages on the patio this time. Oh, and another bonus: The guest house is adorable and has both a garden and ocean view.

I think I mentioned previously that Casa Luna is in a central location for enjoying everything Akumal has to offer. But Akumal, itself, is also the perfect base for exploring the broader area. We could come back 30 times and still find new cenotes and beaches/beach clubs within 30 min of Akumal. There are also ruins, nature parks and animal sanctuaries. If you venture a little further, Valladolid is a colonial town about 1hr/20min away, with so much to do and see. It's a great day trip.

Thank you for yet another wonderful stay, and we can't wait to come back with the whole family in January!

Our visit to Casa Luna was wonderful. The house served as a beautiful and peaceful home base for our vacation. We were a group of three couples with 3 kids and the layout of the house, with much private area was perfect. The kids loved the pool and collecting coconuts with Humberto. The place was very clean and well maintained. We loved the art throughout the house. Location was great. We appreciated the wrist bands to the dive shop in town that allowed us to access the beach without any hassle. Location is great as you can walk to town and restaurants. Directly in front of the house is rocky, but beach is easily accessible a short walk to the north and south. We had Rosa cook for us one night. It was the best meal of the trip!

This is the second time we've stayed a Casa Luna. The views are simply unbeatable, the house is very clean, the gardens are beautifully kept, the beds, bedding and pillows are so comfortable, the kitchen and pantry have everything you need, and the location is great - close to La Buena Vida and a short walk (or golf-card ride) to the other restaurants, shops and Akumal Bay.
This house is great for couples or friends who want some separation. It's not great (in my opinion) for families with young kids or elderly members who have trouble with balance or steps. The 3rd bedroom (one of the masters) is completely separate from the rest of the house with no interior access. Also, the upper deck is VERY high (with absolutely amazing views of HMB and the ocean), but the sturdy, cement banisters are low with very wide openings. That said, we didn't have children with us on either trip, and love the house. It's hard to pick a terrace/view, there are so many to choose from!
The managers and staff are great. We especially love Humberto, the gardener. One more thing...this property has so many trees! I love the lush gardens and it's a great place to watch birds, agoutis and iguanas.
