Wedding and Event Policies

Beach, excellent facilities and staff, and proximity to a variety of other accommodations for your guests, all make Villa Fortuna the perfect choice for your special event. A few important notes to ensure that your special event happens exactly as you have dreamed.

First, Prior authorization is required for all gatherings over the number of registered guests. Prior authorization is required for any person not included in the registered guest list to be present on the property. Failure to comply with either of these policies may result in expulsion from property and forfeiture of any rental or fees paid.

1. There is an Event Fee. This fee is in addition to the standard posted rental rates.

  • Up to 30 total attendees including house guests:  US$1000 paid together with the final balance of the rental rate. 

2. All minimum night and other rental restrictions apply.

A minimum of a 5-day rental required (7 day rental during high season and holiday weeks).

3. Villa Fortuna requires an event planner. 

The property will only allow Jennifer and Manda from Turtle Bay Weddings (www.turtlebayweddings.com) as event planners. The event planner's staff is responsible for the following

  • Set up and take down of all chairs, tables, etc.
  • All event planning functions
  • Clearing up of villa communal areas at the end of the event
  • Food and beverage service

4. There is a refundable Security deposit. This is in addition to the event fee.

  • US$1000 for events for up to 30 guests.
  • Deposit is fully refundable upon departure barring any undue damage.

5. As part of our commitment to sea turtle protection and being good neighbors all events must terminate by 10:00 PM local time November - May and 8:00 PM during turtle nesting season, May - November.

6. All events are considered on a case by case basis and require written permission from Akumal Direct (via email).
