Swim in a Cool Fresh Cenote – These unique geographical features are perfect for cooling off. Beautiful above the water and amazing beneath. Make time to jump in and explore. Take water shoes, snorkel gear and an underwater flashlight for your best experience! (snorkel gear and lights available for rental at local dive shops)
Paddle Board, Kayak, Kite Board – You can explore tropical lagoons via kayak or paddleboard. Tour the Sian Kaan Biosphere via boat with a local Mayan expert. Akumal’s central location means you are within a short drive of excellent kiteboarding!
Learn to Scuba Dive! – 4 Day PADI Dive certification courses are readily available. Summer is the perfect time to learn to dive. The town is tranquil which means easy scheduling and private instructors. The ocean is calm, and visibility is fantastic. Not to mention summer is a great time to catch a large variety of sea life along Akumal’s reefs.
See a baby sea turtle (100’s of baby turtle’s) – Turtle nesting season! Do not miss the opportunity to watch a female nest and lay her eggs or see the hatchlings make their way to the ocean. It will bring tears to your eyes, your children will never forget. We promise!
